Nord Security Expands ISO 27001 Coverage Across Business Tools

Nord Security has confirmed that its core business security products meet one of the world's most demanding information security standards, extending a certification record that now spans five years for its oldest tools and marks a first for two newer ones. The announcement covers NordLayer, a network security platform built for organizations, and NordPass, its business password manager, alongside two recent additions to the company's enterprise lineup: NordLayer Intelligence by NordStellar, a threat exposure management platform, and NordLayer Browser, an enterprise browser designed for corporate environments.

What ISO 27001 Actually Verifies

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 is not a marketing badge; it is a formal, independently audited standard governing how an organization manages information security. It requires companies to build and maintain what is known as an information security management system, or ISMS, structured around three principles: confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. In practice, that means proving - to an external auditor, not through self-reporting - that sensitive information is protected from unauthorized access, that it remains accurate and unaltered except through legitimate processes, and that authorized users can reliably access it when needed. Certification is granted only after that audit confirms compliance, and it must be renewed periodically to remain valid. For Nord Security's business suite, the certifying body was SERTIKA, and the latest audit reportedly found no nonconformities across any of the five products reviewed, noting only non-binding recommendations.

A Track Record Extended, Not Just Repeated

NordLayer and NordPass have carried ISO 27001 certification since 2021, renewing it annually - a detail that matters more than it might first appear. Annual recertification means a company's security practices face repeated external scrutiny rather than a one-time check, which is relevant for business customers who depend on these tools to manage network access, credentials, and sensitive corporate data over time. The addition of NordLayer Intelligence by NordStellar and NordLayer Browser to that certified group, achieved on their first attempt, signals that newer products were built with the same compliance architecture from the outset rather than retrofitted later. Andrius Buinovskis, VP of product strategy at NordLayer, framed the certification as evidence that security considerations are embedded across the company's expanding portfolio rather than treated as an afterthought for individual products.

Why This Matters for Enterprise Buyers

For organizations evaluating security vendors, certifications like ISO 27001 serve a practical function: they reduce the burden of due diligence. Rather than independently verifying a vendor's internal controls, procurement and compliance teams can rely on a recognized, audited standard as a baseline. This is particularly relevant in sectors governed by data protection regulation, where demonstrating vendor accountability is often a legal requirement, not just good practice. As threat exposure management and enterprise browsing tools increasingly sit alongside traditional network security and password management in corporate technology stacks, consistent certification across that entire suite narrows the risk of a single uncertified weak link.

A Growing Business Suite

The certified products now form part of a broader five-tool business suite that also includes NordLayer AI Scout, an AI visibility and security solution launched in October 2026. Its absence from this certification round reflects its recent launch rather than any security shortfall, and its inclusion in future audit cycles will be worth watching as organizations increasingly seek oversight of how artificial intelligence tools interact with corporate networks and data. As enterprise environments grow more complex - spanning networks, credentials, browsers, and AI systems - standardized, independently verified security benchmarks are likely to become a baseline expectation rather than a differentiator.
